Piezo-Composite transducers utilise the improved properties of ceramic rods embedded in a customised polymer matrix. This construction forms the basis for enhanced range capability and image quality of the complete transducer when compared to conventional monolithic transducer designs. There are however, many applications where a monolithic transducer design provides the best overall solution. Acoustic transducers constructed using single crystal materials offer significant further improvements to range and resolution.
